Aby Archiyou

At Archiyou, we’re passionate about local, ecological, and affordable construction. When it comes to meeting all three, few materials rival straw—except maybe wood. Straw is abundantly available, low-cost, and often just a call away from your local farmer.

It also performs exceptionally well as insulation. A straw bale wall with a thickness of around 35 cm can easily meet the highest European energy-efficiency standards. For those living outside dense urban areas — especially near agricultural land and with some extra space to build —straw is a smart, practical choice.

Despite its many benefits, straw remains underused in construction. One reason is the lack of commercial players promoting it—no big advertising campaigns, no mainstream visibility. That’s a shame, because straw has real potential.

To help bring it into the spotlight, we’re developing parametric straw wall components that make building with straw simpler and smarter. This particular system is inspired by the pioneering work of straw construction leaders such as RFCP (France) and FASBA (Germany). For more detailed information visit the websites of these organizations!

We offer several popular systems that combine load-bearing timber frames with straw bale infill. While some systems use straw as the sole load-bearing element, these are still challenging to get approved by regulators.

Just pick your straw system of choice. Make sure you set the correct dimensions of your local strawbales. These vary quite a bit based on your location and farmer equipment: But changing it is very easy in this parametric model. After you are done just get a free plan.

We're continuously improving this configurator, and soon you’ll be able to explore even more options—including custom openings and other features.
